The ratio corresponds to the no. of crankset teeth divided by no. of sprocket teeth, higher the ratio more difficult the pedalling becomes when starting but also it is possible to improve the speed. Conversely, a low ratio will allow an easy start, absorption of uneven, but will not allow to ride very fast. Therefore, it is important to choose the ratio according to the requirement. The information in red in the analysis allows you to know where you are located in theory (versatile, speed ...).

The cyclist riding on fixed gear and practising a skid (pedal locking and thus skidding of the rear wheel) can calculate the ratio to optimize the skid patch (also referred to as the braking zone), in fact during a skid on the same areas of tyres are stressed. The more they are there, the more tyre wear will be distributed and therefore the longer the tyre will last. As soon as the ratio is a round number, only one braking zone is present, this type of ratio therefore must be avoided.

This tool also allows to have other information like development, and the speed reached according to the cadence of pedaling and its material (wheel / tyre). Equivalent ratios allow you to see the possible crankset / gear combinations to achieve an almost similar ratio.
